How Much Is a Box of Livestock Mosquito Coils? Wholesale Pricing and Inquiry Guide

"How much is a box of livestock mosquito coils?" is the most common purchasing question, yet there is no single answer-prices vary widely by formula, length, sticks per box and order volume. Rather than shopping around blindly, it pays to understand what drives the price, how to calculate your order quantity, and what to ask when inquiring. This article covers it all.

1. Five Factors That Affect Livestock Coil Prices

1. Formula

Different formulas use different active ingredients and raw materials. From lower to higher price:

  • Standard: daily mosquito control, best value;
  • Wormwood: with mugwort plant extract, mild and low-irritation for pregnant and young animals, slightly higher;
  • Strong: higher active-ingredient content for hot, humid sheds and outbreaks, highest.

See How to Choose Livestock Coil Types.

2. Length

  • 1.2 m long stick: burns about 8-10 h, covers about 60-80 sqm-all-night protection, the mainstream choice;
  • 45 cm short stick: burns about 3-4 h, covers about 20-30 sqm-flexible for small spaces, lower price per stick.

Per unit of coverage, the long stick is usually more economical. See Burn Time and Coverage.

3. Sticks per Box

Livestock coils sell wholesale by the box; the long stick comes 400 sticks per box, short sticks by their own box spec. Always compare price per stick, not per box, since box counts differ between manufacturers.

4. Order Volume (Tiered Pricing)

Factories quote in tiers: single-box wholesale, steady monthly orders, and seasonal bulk purchases each get progressively better prices. To estimate monthly usage, see Monthly Mosquito Control Cost Framework.

5. Freight

Coils are bulky and fragile; long-distance freight takes a real share of total cost. Sourcing from a nearby factory (e.g., Hunan for central China) cuts freight noticeably. See Hunan Livestock Coil Manufacturer.

2. Quick Estimate: How Many Boxes You Need

Three steps:

  1. Nightly usage: by shed area, one long stick per 60-80 sqm-see How Many Coils per Shed;
  2. Days per month: South China ~30, Central China 25-28, North China 20-25, Northeast/Northwest 15-20;
  3. Boxes: nightly sticks x days ÷ 400 (long sticks per box) = monthly boxes.

Example: a 5,000 sqm pig farm using only long sticks needs ~70 sticks nightly; at 26 days in Central China that is ~1,820 sticks ≈ 5 boxes/month.

3. Ask These 5 Questions When Inquiring

  1. How many sticks per box, and how long is each stick?-confirm box spec and convert to price per stick;
  2. What formula and active ingredient?-beware household-grade products sold as livestock-grade; see Livestock vs Household Coils;
  3. Factory direct or through traders?-factory-direct removes middlemen; see Wholesale Livestock Mosquito Coils;
  4. How is freight calculated, and what is the lead time?-clarify whether prices include freight;
  5. Are samples available?-test-burn a couple of sticks to verify burn time and effect before bulk orders.

4. Purchasing Pitfalls to Avoid

  • Comparing per-box prices only: differing box counts mislead-always convert to price per stick;
  • Chasing cheap no-name coils: coils that break while burning, absorb moisture, or under-dose actually cost more. See Can Damp Coils Still Be Used;
  • Over-stocking: coils have a shelf life and fear moisture-order monthly or quarterly. See How to Store Coils;
  • Last-minute peak-season buying: supply tightens from May to August-stock up before April;
  • Not asking about customization: bulk orders can negotiate formula, spec and packaging-see OEM Customization.
